Prayer & Praise
For security reasons we're currently not able to list individual praises and prayer
needs on our web site. We hope to make this available in a secure Member
Services section in the future,
if this is of interest to the church family.
In addition to our weekly prayer meeting, we offer members
and friends of Bible Baptist a private e-mail list called BBCmail for this purpose. Here
are the answers to common questions about its use.
1. What is the purpose of BBCmail?
The BBCmail list is made available for the sharing of announcements, news, praises, prayer requests
and other special needs with others who are "connected" in our church family. Often messages sent
out via this list are then carried into the weekly prayer bulletin or when applicable, sent out
on our telephone prayer line.
2. Who can participate?
BBCmail is provided for all members and friends of Bible Baptist Church. All subscribers are welcome
to address the list with their greetings, announcements, or requests. Because some of this information
is private or personal, only church members and friends can be subscribed to this list, and only
list members can contribute or read messages.
3. How do I subscribe or unsubscribe?
If you would like to receive BBCmail messages, we recommend you contact the Internet Committee who
will see that you get subscribed quickly. It is easiest for us to sign you up if you
e-mail your
request (for address accuracy), however you are welcome to ask the Pastor or see the committee
members in person and ask about receiving BBCmail. We hope all members and friends with e-mail access
will be a part of this important ministry! Removal requests sent to us will also be honored
immediately.
4. How do I send a message to the list?
To send a message to all members of the list, you need only write a regular e-mail and send it to one
e-mail address for automatic delivery. This address is included in the footer of each BBCmail message
you receive (usually identified with the prefix [BBCmail] in the message subject) or is available by
contacting the Internet Committee or the Pastor for help.
5. Why won't the list accept my message?
If you send a message to the list address and receive notification that it is being held for approval,
the Internet Committee will review your message and then send it on to the list if appropriate.
If your messages are being held, here are some common things to check:
- You must be subscribed to the list using the e-mail address you are sending from. Take note
of this especially if you use multiple e-mail addresses.
- Your message can only be sent to the list, or a few others at once. That is, messages with a
large number of To: or CC: addresses will be considered by the list to be possible junk mail, and
so will be held for approval. We recommend you send one message to the list, and a separate message
to other multiple recipients if necessary to avoid this problem.
- Your message has a subject that is suspected by our mailing list software to be a list command
(starts with the words "subscribe" or "info," for example) or appears to be outside our
posting guidelines (see below).
- Your message has a file attachment. The list is not configured to accept attachments due to
the number of our people on slow connections or who are unable to receive or view them.
6. What are the guidelines for posting to BBCmail?
We want BBCmail to be a useful tool, and we do not police postings for anything in particular. Feel
free to share with the list what you want to share. However, we do make the following recommendations:
- The message should not contain any rich text, MIME or HTML content (boldface
type, different fonts, background images, etc.) as many people use e-mail
programs that can't read such messages.
- There should be no general-interest forwards (virus notices, joke lists, chain
e-mails that you may receive) transmitted via BBCmail. You are welcome to transmit
these types of messages to whomever you wish from your private e-mail address lists,
but please do not use the church mailing list for this purpose, even if you're sure
it's funny. :)
If you have any other questions about BBCmail, or need assitance, please contact our
Internet Committee.
