Pastor Harold H. Comings

Rev. Harold H. Comings accepted the invitation of the church and officially begin his pastoral duties on Monday, June 22, 1998. He followed the fruitful eight-year ministry of Pastor Derwin Hauser and the encouraging interim work of Pastor George Miller II.

Rev. Comings grew up in the New York community of Coventry. Since receiving his baccalaureate in theology at Baptist Bible College of Clarks Summit, PA, in 1969, he has served three pastorates. He came to the Cortland area from the Tuscarora Baptist Church of Addison, NY, where he had been the pastor since 1982.

Mrs. Comings, the former Judy Coye of Smyrna, NY, is a graduate of SUNY Potsdam and holds a Masters in music education from SUNY Binghamton.

Rev. and Mrs. Comings have been married for 37 years. They have four sons: Andrew, David, Daniel, and Joseph.

Of the move to Cortland Pastor Comings said, "My family and I are very excited about the prospect of ministry with the good folks at Bible Baptist. We have the privilege of knowing some of them from years ago and we have already enjoyed the opportunity of getting to make many new friends. There is a harmony of spirit among the people. There is also a wide range of giftedness and there are many with an entrepreneurial outlook. All of these things bode well for the promotion of the gospel as we enter the twenty-first century. The challenges are great, the possibilities are terrific, the work is vital and our God is awesome."
